The Oxford American, the Little Rock-based “Southern
Magazine of Good Writing,” is pleased to present Blues and R&B singer Bobby
Rush at South on Main (1304 Main St.), Friday, October 11, 2013, at 8
pm. Doors open at 7 pm. Tickets are $45 and go on sale Thursday, August

The Oxford American recently featured Rush in a web
interview about his latest album release, Down in Louisiana.
Born in Louisiana, Rush spent a portion of his youth living
in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he earned his Blues chops in local juke joints.
His career spans five decades and multiple labels. He first gained national
recognition on Billboard’s R&B charts in the 1970s with “Chicken
Heads” followed by “I Wanna Do the Do.”
Rush’s prolific body of work includes more than 25 albums, a
Grammy nomination for his album Hoochie Mama, and multiple Blues
Music Awards in the “Soul Blues” categories. He has performed at the King
Biscuit Blues Festival many times.
