Speakers will address sustainable travel as more than a passing fad and how writers and associates can responsibly, creatively and profitably tap into this growing market.

Trish Riley is an award-winning environmental journalist, contributor for Natural Health, Natural Home, E/The Environmental Magazine, Hemispheres, and Audubon, and author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Green Living.

Richard G. Edwards is founder of the travel industry-focused division of NativeEnergy, a leading carbon offset provider, a role in which he works to bring travel to the forefront of the effort to solve the climate crisis. After years working in sustainable development and as a marketing specialist in Latin America for the Organization of American States, Edwards has been focused this past decade on the travel sector, including heading the sales and marketing of several pioneering ecotourism and adventure companies. He is a Top Travel Specialist for Conde Nast Traveler, and founder of the green travel company GreenSpot.

Moderator: SATW Associate Holly Johnson is vice president of Imagica Communications. Her clients include Devil's Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado, recently honored by Travel + Leisure Magazine and the International Conservancy as one of the top eco-friendly hotels and resorts in the world. While thinking globally, Johnson also "acts locally," working on local causes and events for restaurants, retail outlets, and hotels, and assisting with green program certifications for her clients in Colorado and Florida.

SATW President-Elect Bea Broda will show how to increase your income by adding video to your website without the need for expensive camera equipment or the services of a highly paid tech expert.

With a solid background in TV production and an inductee of the Who’s Who of Canadian Women, Bea’s career has revolved around the hosting, writing and co-producing of TV shows and various multimedia projects for BC Pictures and several other production companies. Bea is currently the Chair of the Canadian Chapter of SATW (Society of American Travel Writers). Her hobby of photography has developed into a professional career and now her pictures of the world are seen on billboards, posters,brochures and on commercially sold CD-ROM royalty free image libraries. With her partner at BC Pictures, Bob Connolly, Bea won the Gold Award at the Canadian Corporate Television Awards, 2000, for the DVD, “Aruba: Dawn of a New Era.” She is co-owner of a production company called BC Pictures, which produce broadcast quality television programs, videos, CD-ROMs, DVDs and web sites. She was co-producer, writer, host, and narrator of “Passport to Adventure,” a travel television series. She has also written, produced, and host/narrated many corporate videos which spin off of the travel series as well as several infomercials and television commercials.

Shel Holtz has nearly 30 years of organizational communications experience in both corporate and consulting environments. Shel is a five-time winner of IABC's Gold Quill award (most recently winning in 1997 for external Web sites), and was named IABC/Los Angeles's Communicator of the Year in 1988. In 2005, Shel was named an IABC Fellow, the highest honor IABC confers on its members. Shel has applied online technology to his communication efforts on behalf of companies and clients since the mid-1980s. His most recent book is "How to Do Everything with Podcasting," co-written with Neville Hobson and published by Osborne/McGraw-Hill. He is also the co-author of "Blogging for Business," co-written with Ted Demopoulos and published by Kaplan. Earlier books include "Corporate Conversations," a guide to employee communications, published by Amacom. "Public Relations on the Net," published by AMACOM; and "The Intranet Advantage," published by Ziff-Davis Press. He also wrote the manuals, "Communication and Technology" and "Communicator's Guide to Intranets," published by Ragan Communications and "Writing for the Wired World," published by IABC.
