In four segments — Preparation and Announcement, Birth, Story, and Proclamation — the singers will explore the Christmas event with music from Medieval times to the present. There will be segments from Handel's Messiah, carols from different lands, spirituals, traditional and novel Christmas songs, and, as a finale, the energetic Betelehemu. Dr. Cliff Ganus will be the guest conductor for this concert. Dr. Ganus retired from Harding University in 2020 as a Distinguished Professor of Music and former chair of the department after 52 years of teaching at that institution. A life member of the American Choral Directors Association, he served ACDA as a regional committee chair and president of the Arkansas chapter and president of the Arkansas Music Educators Association. These performances are underwritten, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts and are free and open to the public.
