Little Rock is gearing up to host more than 500 MINIs Monday, July 16, as part of the nine-day nationwide car convoy “MINI TAKES THE STATES 2018: Rally to the Rockies.” This every-other-year event takes thousands of MINI drivers, navigators and passengers over thousands of miles of interstates and back roads for a week of fun, food and four-wheeled fellowship.
Monday night, Little Rock’s downtown River Market District, in partnership with MINI of Little Rock, the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Downtown Little Rock Partnership, hosts the drivers at “MINI Takes the Rock” on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center from 6-9 p.m. This sporty event will feature local jazz musician Rodney Block, local craft beer from Rebel Kettle Brewing and local ice cream from Loblolly Creamery. The public is invited to come out, enjoy local craft beer and entertainment and take in the spectacle of hundreds of gleaming MINIs.
Food Drive: In support of MINI TAKES THE STATES’ national non-profit charity, Feeding America, the Arkansas Foodbank will host a food drive at Monday’s event. The Arkansas Foodbank is one of Feeding America’s 200 partner food banks throughout the nation. All food drive collections from Monday’s event will remain in Arkansas.
MINI owners may drive the entire rally, hop on several legs of the journey, or simply make a Little Rock pit stop. Arkansas’s capital city is one of 12 stops along two routes that begin in Orlando, Florida and Portland, Oregon. The mass of MINIs will meet in Keystone, Colorado on July 22.
