This weekend foodies from all across the country are descending upon Atlanta, Georgia, for the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, and Little Rock and the state of Arkansas are deliciously represented.
The four-day event features classes, workshops, lectures, and more than a few food and wine tastings, all focused on the food scene of Atlanta and the Southeast. Little Rock — along with representatives from the state’s Parks and Tourism Department, Bentonville, El Dorado and Wilson — are there to encourage festival goers to Savor Arkansas.
The festival kicked off on Thursday evening with “Destination Delicious,” a walk-around night market featuring restaurateurs from across the south with samples of some of their most popular dishes. Representing Little Rock was Jonathan Boney of Three Fold Noodles & Dumpling Co. and Haybird, Lynn Darnell of Rock Town Distillery, and Jack Sundell of The Root Café and Dos Rocas. On Friday, Chef/Owner Mark Abernathy of Loca Luna and Red Door and Festival Board member, helped facilitate one of the many learning opportunities the Festival offers.
Other festival highlights include the “Connoisseur’s Breakfast: The Arkansas Way” featuring an array of Arkansas-inspired breakfast foods. Saturday, the final full day of the festival, features “Savor Arkansas,” a showcase of food and drinks with a twist – cocktails are inspired by local dishes while dishes take their cue from local cocktails and spirits.
