Mark Your Calendars for These Fall Events
With summer coming to a close, Little Rock is gearing up for one of the most exciting times of the year: the fall festival season. There’s no better time to visit the city than when cooler temperatures make for weekends full of family-friendly, foodie fun. With a calendar that’s almost overflowing with festivals, we took the liberty of making this handy guide to treating yourself (and your tummy!) right this fall.
Little Rocktoberfest
Have you ever wondered if you could drink a stadium’s worth of beer? Well, here’s your chance to find out as War Memorial Stadium gets taken over by one of Arkansas’s largest beer festivals. Now in its 17th year, it’s organized by the Central Arkansas Fermenters and features fun games, food, and live music.
Filmland
This year’s film festival will take place at downtown Little Rock’s MacArthur Park where movies will be shown drive-in style. Expect screenings of this season’s hottest films and a few surprise Hollywood appearances at the event.
International Greek Food Festival
Hungry locals can pick up their pre-ordered dishes via drive-thru at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Just like last year, you can get your fill of favorites like gyros, baklava, spanakopita, and more by ordering online, which will officially open two weeks before the event.
Main Street Food Truck Festival
Feeling full yet? You better not be, because the Main Street Food Truck Festival is the biggest festival of them all! This free festival spans six blocks on Main Street and three blocks on Capitol Avenue in the heart of downtown. With more than 80 food trucks from around the state, this is a can’t-miss event.
Blue Jeans & Bubbles
This new event is where “casual meets sophisticated.” Guests will enjoy sparkling wine and nibbles from various South Main restaurants as they stroll through one of the city’s quaintest neighborhoods. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas.
Annual World Cheese Dip Championship
Brace yourselves, because the cheese dip is coming. Fresh chips and some of the world’s greatest dips await festival goers at what has become one of Little Rock’s signature events. In addition to the ooey, gooey goodness, there will be plenty of music and beer, so don’t miss out on your chance to vote for the new World Cheese Dip Champion. Masks are required when not eating.
Little Rock Yoga Festival
Not every festival has to be about food, ya know! For its inaugural outing, the Little Rock Yoga Festival is bringing together yogis from across the state to lead hikes, sessions, and meditations at Wildwood Park for the Arts.
Festival of Darkness
If you’re still thirsty for beer, this annual event serves up craft beer with a side of zombies. Hosted at Lost Forty Brewing, this yearly celebration of dark beer and the scariest season of the year includes a costume contest, food trucks, music, and more.
HarvestFest in Hillcrest
Many locals say that the true first day of fall is the day of HarvestFest in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood. This quaint family festival brings together vendors, food trucks, live music, children’s performers and neighbors for an entire day of fun.
After you’ve filled your tummy, you’re free to explore Little Rock’s other amazing offerings. There’s plenty of things to do, places to shop or sights to see. There’s so much to see and do, you should probably go ahead and book a hotel and make a weekend of it!
