BIG HOLIDAY FUN RETURNS TO LITTLE ROCK
Holiday parade makes its way back to the capital city.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 31, 2024) — Presented by the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB), the newly renamed The BIG Little Rock Holiday Parade will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024. For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the event returns with a new name, new theme, and new downtown location.
The BIG Little Rock Holiday Parade 2024 theme is “Floats Along the River.” It is designed to celebrate the city’s vibrant connection to the Arkansas River — a cornerstone of the community and a centerpiece of Little Rock’s downtown. The new route will follow alongside the river by beginning at Broadway and West Markham streets and concluding in the River Market District near Interstate 30. Participation in the parade is free. Click here for the application form, rules, and regulations. Entry deadline is Friday, November 22, 2024.
"We are excited to be bringing Little Rock’s holiday parade back to life," said LRCVB President & CEO Gina Gemberling. "As we honor our heritage as a river city, this festive celebration will showcase how the river continues to shape and inspire our community, bringing us together for a memorable holiday season,” she added.
“Little Rock has so many big things to offer our residents and guests, especially during the holiday season, and The BIG Little Rock Holiday Parade will be a great addition to our celebrations this year. We appreciate LRCVB and community volunteers who answered the call to re-launch our citywide holiday parade, and we hope everyone marks their calendars for December 7!” said Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
In addition to the parade, pre- and post-event activations will take place along the route. Santa Claus will be at the Statehouse Convention Center for photos (people are asked to take their own pictures). Other activities will be in the River Market District. Following The BIG Little Rock Holiday Parade, the Arkansas State Capitol Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the actual lighting expected to take place around 6:15 p.m. This is the 86th year for the capitol lighting event, which dates to the late 1930s.
