Continued Community Developments Coming to Downtown Little Rock:
Historic B. Finley Vinson Plaza to Undergo Phase Two of Renovation Project.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 9, 2025) — The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) has announced the next phase in the revitalization of B. Finley Vinson Plaza, located adjacent to Robinson Center in downtown Little Rock. The transformation is being led by WER Architects, Jones Development Company, and EDG Landscaping.
Phase two construction is scheduled to begin Monday, October 13, and conclude by spring 2026. Plans call for modern enhancements such as expanded green areas, comfortable seating, and adaptable zones designed for live performances and special events. Updated lighting will also provide a smooth transition into Riverfront Park near the Old State House Museum.
Features from the first phase are already drawing attention, including a new bandstand, multi-colored LED illumination, and a redesigned fountain accented by an architecturally striking canopy. Together, the upgrades will further enhance the plaza as an inviting destination for residents and guests alike.
“We’re excited to advance the B. Finley Vinson Plaza initiative and look forward to seeing it flourish as a lively gathering place,” said Gina Gemberling, president and CEO of the LRCVB. “This renewal reflects Little Rock’s creative spirit and commitment to creating memorable experiences that bring people together.”
Tourism in Little Rock continues to be driving force for Arkansas’ economy and quality of life, and investments like this help bring Little Rock’s 10-year Tourism Master Plan to life. Among the plan’s top priorities, product development and civic participation directly align with this effort, reinforcing the LRCVB’s dedication to thoughtfully designed places that inspire interaction and local pride.

ABOUT B. FINLEY VINSON
B. Finley Vinson was a prominent Little Rock banker, businessman, and civic leader whose vision helped shape the city’s modern identity. A banker, he was deeply involved in downtown redevelopment and economic advancement throughout the mid-20th century. Vinson led the Little Rock Housing Authority during major urban renewal efforts and was a founding member of Fifty for the Future, a coalition of business leaders formed to attract industry and encourage business expansion across the capital city. His leadership extended to cultural, medical, and educational initiatives that contributed to projects such as the Statehouse Convention Center, Excelsior Hotel (now Little Rock Marriott), Arkansas Arts Center, today’s Regions Bank building that once housed the iconic Jacques and Suzanne restaurant, airport expansion, and more. A strong advocate for progress and inclusivity, Vinson also played a role in the Downtown Negotiating Committee, which helped end segregation in public facilities during the 1960s. Later, he served as chair of the Little Rock Advertising & Promotion Commission, continuing his legacy of civic engagement and support for tourism, the arts, and downtown revitalization.
