Little Rock Cvb Honors Military With New Tour
Little Rock adds military history tour to local virtual and driving tours
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (November 11, 2020)– This Veteran’s Day, Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) announces the launch of the Little Rock Military History Tour packaging local landmarks that honor veterans and fallen soldiers into a virtual and driving tour that pays homage to their service and sacrifice.
The Little Rock Military History Tour is a collection of 14 monuments, memorials, and museums dedicated to those who have served our country and sacrificed for its freedom. It includes sites in the metro and the greater Little Rock region. From the Army and Air Force, the National Guard and Navy, Little Rock is a city where America’s military history will never be forgotten.
“Little Rock has a rich military heritage with so many of our own having served our nation,” said Gretchen Hall, Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO. “Over the years, we’ve welcomed many military meetings and reunions groups who truly appreciate that our city honors the men and women who have protected our freedoms. We worked to develop a tour that reflects those places of honor, and a Veteran’s Day launch seemed appropriate,” she added.
This is the fourth virtual/driving tour LRCVB has developed in 2020 featuring some of the city’s great amenities while providing people a means to enjoy them in a fun, safe way. Earlier this year, LRCVB looked for ways to build upon Little Rock’s outstanding tourism products by showcasing new offerings in a different way — especially at a time when people were at home looking for things to do.
In the spring, the bureau curated an online mural tour with many art installations previously commissioned by the Little Rock Downtown Partnership. This summer, LRCVB rolled out a virtual sculpture tour highlighting more than 140 pieces of art in Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden and Riverfront Park. LRCVB plans to roll out more sculpture tours showcasing artworks displayed throughout the city. And, most recently, it created an historic church tour featuring nearly 20 churches rich in history and architecture. Click here to view all tours.
