As convention planners resume future event bookings,
LRCVB fills senior sales position to manage national associations
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (January 28, 2021) – Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) has hired Clay Moon as senior sales director for national associations. Moon is responsible for securing national business as meeting planners begin to re-boot their booking efforts after the COVID-19 pandemic forced event cancellations nationwide — more than 200 in Arkansas’s capital city.
Moon has spent his career in hotel management, including 25 years with Drury Hotels, an American hospitality company which operates a chain of upper mid-scale select service hotels. As regional manager, he was responsible for ten hotels, 615 personnel and a $40 million dollar annual budget. He is a certified hotel administrator and is certified in hotel analytics.
“Little Rock has enjoyed hosting many organizations from across the country,” said LRCVB President and CEO Gretchen Hall. “Not only have attendees had positive experiences here, we’ve been able to keep the city on a national stage. Clay’s extensive hotel management experience will serve our clients and Little Rock well,” she added.
Little Rock is an ideal meetings destination for national groups. It is conveniently located in the heart of Arkansas; the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is less than 10 minutes from the Downtown Convention District; the city has more than 7,200 hotel rooms; both the Statehouse Convention Center and Robinson Center are anchored by two convention hotels; and dining, entertainment and shopping venues are easily walkable from meeting facilities.
A Illinois native, Moon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in speech communication from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
