LRCVB hosting job fair for hospitality workers, celebrating 50 years

Apr 8, 2021, 11:23 AM by Seth Barlow

The hospitality industry has endured as challenging a pandemic year as any. With hope for an end in sight, the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) will recognize its golden anniversary and host the Big On Little Rock Hospitality Industry Job Fair for hospitality and tourism workers on Tuesday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Statehouse Convention Center.

The Arkansas economy lost approximately 44,000 jobs due to the pandemic, most in the leisure and hospitality sector. But LRCVB remains “Big On Little Rock” and big on hospitality. It has worked for more than 50 years to promote the best that the city, region and state have to offer. Though it wasn’t able to celebrate its true 50th anniversary last year because of the pandemic, the bureau will recognize “50+1” — in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week at a press conference opening the job fair at the Statehouse on May 4 at 10:00 a.m.

“As COVID clouds begin to clear, the state’s hospitality industry needs more workers to help regain its position as a $7.4 billion economic force in Arkansas. The Big On Little Rock Hospitality Industry Job Fair represents the best opportunity yet for workers who lost their jobs in 2020 as well those Arkansans looking to enter the hospitality workforce for the first time.” said Gretchen Hall, President and CEO of the LRCVB.

Representatives from sectors across the industry will be there — restaurants, hotels, attractions, event venues — seeking qualified employees for jobs in accounting, administration, management, sales, event set-up, front desk, security, housekeeping, serving, bartending, cooking, groundskeepers, and more.

The theme of this year’s National Travel and Tourism Week is “the power of travel.” As the world reopens in safe and deliberate stages, hospitality workers will play a powerful role as Arkansans and others throughout the country — and even the world — rediscover the Natural State and all those things that make it so special.

Hospitality workers looking to re-enter the workforce or those wanting to make the hospitality field their chosen profession and all who are BIG ON JOBS should be BIG ON LITTLE ROCK at the Big On Little Rock Hospitality Industry Job Fair.
