Men’s and women’s conference tournament set for Feb. 25-27 at Mims Gymnasium

NEW ORLEANS - The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) and its six member teams will head to Little Rock, Arkansas, for the 2022 GCAC Basketball Championship hosted by Philander Smith College Feb. 25-27 at Mims Gymnasium.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams from Dillard University, Edward Waters, Fisk, Philander Smith, Rust and Tougaloo will all head to Arkansas looking to earn the league’s automatic bid into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament, which will begin in March.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the GCAC and Philander Smith College to bring the 2022 basketball championship to Little Rock. We know the teams and fans will enjoy their time in Arkansas's capital city,” said Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO Gretchen Hall.

The three-day tournament will feature 10 games, with four opening-round matchups beginning Friday morning at Mims Gymnasium at PSC. The two winners will advance to face the top two seeds on each side in the conference semifinals on Saturday.

The final two teams standing among the men and women will vie for the title in the championship game set for Sunday afternoon in Little Rock.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning in early February, with all sales being completed digitally, both online and on-site at the championship through the official ticketing partner of the GCAC in HomeTown Ticketing.
