This year, businesses in the River Market participated in the first ever Get #LIT in the River Market holiday light contest. Central Arkansas Library System took the top honors with Stickyz Rock N’ Roll Chicken Shack coming in as runner up. The entire district is a great place to see holiday lights and pick up a few last-minute gifts from the area’s shops and boutiques.
There’s likely no more magical place during the holidays than The Capital Hotel. With a glowing Christmas tree that almost touches the ceiling of the two-story hotel lobby and two bars offering fantastic holiday-themed drinks, it’s a must-see destination for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit.
The South Main (SoMa) neighborhood gets in the Christmas spirits with their whimsical neighborhood tree at the Bernice Garden. While you’re there, stop in at any of the fantastic restaurants or watering holes that line Main Street, including South on Main, Mockingbird Beer & Tacos, Atlas Bar, The Root Café or Esters SOMA.
West Little Rock gets into the spirit with a musical Christmas tree at the Promenade at Chenal. The tree may be the decorative focus of the outdoor shopping center, but the entire mall is decked out in its holiday finest, so take a moment out of your holiday shopping to enjoy the spectacle.
It doesn’t get grander than the marble halls of the Arkansas State Capitol building. With its towering columns and gilded domes, the building is stunning in every season, but add in festive banners, a Christmas tree and holiday lights and you’ve got one of the state’s most iconic holiday institutions. While you’re there, take a peek into some of the rooms and chambers that have been witness to the state’s most historic moments.
Public Menorah
Located on the corner of Bowman and Chenal Parkway in west Little Rock, the public Menorah is another Little Rock holiday icon. Join Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson for the lighting of its first candle on December 22.
