National Theatre Live Presents, The Fifth Step

Olivier Award-winner Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Dunkirk) is joined by Emmy and BAFTA-winner Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, The Responder) in the critically acclaimed and subversively funny new play by David Ireland. Finn den Hertog directs the provocative and entertaining production filmed live from @sohoplace on London’s West End.

National Theatre Live brings the best of the British stage to cinemas around the world. The plays are filmed in front of a live theater audience, but optimized for the big screen, so it is the next best thing to being there. The actors on stage deliver their performances as they normally would any other night, but to make sure everyone watching in a cinema has the best seat in the house, the position of the cameras is tailored to capture each production. Filmmakers work closely with technical teams to make sure every element on stage such as lighting, hair and make-up look fantastic on the big screen.
