War Toys: Ukraine is an exhibit focusing on the impact of war on children, featuring works by photographer Brian McCarty. Hosted by the museum from February 4 to August 11, this traveling exhibition is a program of Exhibits USA. McCarty collaborated with therapists and children affected by conflict, using expressive art therapy to capture their experiences. The exhibit includes 12 children's drawings alongside McCarty's photographs, highlighting the emotional depth and personal stories of young survivors. This powerful display underscores the high cost of conflict on children's lives and mental health.
“After a decade of fieldwork and research devoted to centering the voices and experiences of children affected by war, we know that the cost of conflict is too high and is paid, not in capital, but in the lives, mental health, and well-being of generations of children.” —Brian McCarty
