Celebrate! Maya Project, with co-sponsors Central Arkansas Library System and Netflix, presents an Arkansas screening of “W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel with a Cause,” followed by a conversation with producer Rita Coburn and Wade Davis, a Netflix executive and former NFL star.
The documentary explores Du Bois’s education, activism, personal experiences, and global influence, highlighting his challenge to early 20th-century social constraints and his lifelong work to uplift Black people worldwide.
The film features Common, Courtney B. Vance, Jeffrey Wright, and narration by Viola Davis, offering a deeper understanding of the man behind the legacy.
The screening will take place Friday, October 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock, followed by a fundraising reception at the CALS Darragh Center. A $100 donation is requested for the reception.
